Carpinus Betulus: Perfect Outdoor Deciduous Hedge Selection-

Hornbeam forms a handsome and beautiful hedge. It has a dark green leaves and works perfectly when planted in groups. Grows upto 80 feet when native in Europe or central asia. Hornbeams should be pruned regularly as it grows vigorously. People sometimes get confused between beech and hornbeam. Carpinus Betulus differ in various aspects. The leaves of beech hedge turns into bronze copper whereas the hornbeam leaf is just rough green with deep veins. 

Hornbeam carries great tolerance with wetter soils than european beech hedge.
